Name a place

Ask for a photo of somewhere you loved. If someone was there, they can answer it.

We're starting in Florida. Name a place anywhere, and help us see where to go next.

What this is

A map of the places people miss. Old streets, closed restaurants, the block you grew up on. Some people come to ask for a photo of one. Others were there, and they answer. Real photos, from real people.

The map itself

This is the map.

Warm streets, real pins, and the longings people have already left. A memory here, someone looking there. This is what you're joining.

The Nostos map: warm, hand-tinted Florida streets scattered with pins where people have shared a memory or asked for one.

You ask. Someone answers.

Someone asked

Maya

left West Palm Beach in '04

"Any chance anyone has a photo of Spanky's on Clematis before it closed? We watched every game in that place."

asked last week · 31 people remember

Here's what they got back

Added by Ray, still in West Palm Beach

A stranger, handing back the exact place you meant. That's the whole idea.

Why a person, not a map

A map can't remember. A person can.

Street View shows you the corner today. It can't show you the diner that closed in '98, the pier gone before the camera came, or the block the way you remember it. Only someone who was there can.

Be there at the start

It only works if someone answers.

Nostos needs two kinds of people. The ones who miss a place, and the ones who can show it to them. Which are you?

We'll email you when Nostos opens near a place you miss, so you can ask for a photo.
